Athkar After Prayer

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ (٣) اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ.

Transliteration

Astaghfiru llāh (×3). Allāhumma anta s-salām, wa minka s-salām, tabārakta yā dhā l-jalāli wa l-ikrām.

Translation

I seek the forgiveness of Allah (three times). O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace; blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ.

Transliteration

Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu l-mulku wa lahu l-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay'in qadīr. Allāhumma lā māniʿa li-mā aʿṭayt, wa lā muʿṭiya li-mā manaʿt, wa lā yanfaʿu dhā l-jaddi minka l-jadd.

Translation

There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner; to Him belongs the dominion and praise, and He is over all things competent. O Allah, none can withhold what You have given, and none can give what You have withheld; no power and wealth can avail anyone against You.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ … وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ.

Transliteration

Recite the entire Ayat al-Kursi (Quran 2:255) once after each obligatory prayer.

Translation

Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering Paradise except dying.

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ … قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ … قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ …

Transliteration

Recite Surahs al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, an-Nas after each prayer (three times after Fajr and Maghrib; once after the others).

Translation

Recite the three protective surahs after every obligatory prayer — three times after Fajr and Maghrib, once after the other prayers.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ (٣٣)، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ (٣٣)، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ (٣٣)، ثُمَّ يَخْتِمُ بِـ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.

Transliteration

Subḥāna llāh (33×), al-ḥamdu lillāh (33×), Allāhu akbar (33×), then complete the hundred with: Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu l-mulku wa lahu l-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay'in qadīr.

Translation

Whoever says "Subhan Allah" 33 times, "Alhamdulillah" 33 times, and "Allahu Akbar" 33 times after every obligatory prayer, and completes the hundred with the tahlil, his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea.
